Will Elder

William "Will" Elder ( born September 22, 1921 as Wolf William Eisenberg in the Bronx, New York, † 15 May, 2008 Rockleigh, New Jersey) was an American illustrator and comic book artist who, through his drawings for the MAD- is known magazine.

Life

From the late 1940s, Elder Harvey Kurtzman created along with comic drawings for Prize comics and other magazines. As Kurtzman 1952 Mad Magazine founded, Elder was one of the founding members. His drawings were characterized by unusual Hintergrundgags what future Mad cartoonist further led and has since become a hallmark of Mad. Elder left Mad in 1957 and worked again with Kurtzman on other magazines in the same style, but none of them stayed long on the market.
