William Floyd

William Floyd ( born December 17, 1734 Brookhaven, Long Iceland, New York, † August 4, 1821 in Western Ville, New York) signed as a representative of New York, the Declaration of Independence of the United States, making it one of America's founding fathers.

Floyd took over after the death of his father the family farm. He was a member of the militia of Suffolk County during the first conflict with Britain and was major general. He was chosen to represent 1774-1776 New York in the Continental Congress. In 1808 he returned to the Senate from New York.
