William Hart (painter)
William Hart ( born March 31, 1823 in Paisley, Strathclyde, Scotland, † June 17, 1894 in Mount Vernon, New York, United States) was a Scottish- American landscape and animal painter.
William Hart, brother of James Hart, moved in 1831 with his parents to the United States to Albany (New York) and worked as a car painter, and with him the artistic talent broke through and he initially started with portrait painting.
After he had made a study trip through the picturesque neighborhoods of his native country, he settled in 1853 in New York and devoted himself with passion of watercolor painting.
In 1858 he became a member of the Academy of Arts, was by 1865 a number of years president of the Drawing Academy in Brooklyn and from 1870 to 1873 president of the Society for watercolor painting.
