William Henry Hines

William Henry Hines ( born March 15, 1856 in New York City; † January 17, 1914 in Wilkes -Barre, Pennsylvania ) was an American politician. Between 1893 and 1895 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Hines attended the public schools of his home and then the Wyoming Seminary in Kingston ( Pennsylvania). In 1865 he moved with his parents from his New York home in the near Wilkes - Barre. After studying law and his 1881 was admitted as a lawyer, he began to work in this profession. At the same time he proposed as a member of the Democratic Party launched a political career. Between 1879 and 1884 he was several times delegate in the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania; 1888 to 1892 he was a member of the State Senate.

In the congressional elections of 1892 Hines was in the twelfth electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Republican George Washington Shonk on March 4, 1893. Since he has not been confirmed in 1894, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1895. After his time in the U.S. House of Representatives William Hines practiced as a lawyer again. He died on January 17, 1914 in Wilkes - Barre.
