William Jerome

William Jerome ( born September 30, 1865 in Cornwall -on-Hudson, New York, † June 25, 1932 in New York City ) was an American songwriter.

Jerome was the son of Irish immigrants. At 18, he left home and first played in minstrel shows. Then he became a music publisher. Jerome made ​​1901-1913 a songwriting team with Jean Schwartz; the two created many hits, often the ragtime style. Particularly well known is its Chinatown, My Chinatown. For more of his hits were My Irish Molly O ( with Schwartz), Old King Tut, And The Green Grass Grew All Around ( with Harry From Tilzer ), That Old Irish Mother of Mine (1920), Bedelia, On The Old Fall River Line ( Harry From Tilzer, Andrew B. His wife Maude Nugent Jerome wrote many songs with Irish themes, for example, Sweet Rosie O'Grady in 1896.
