William Kreiten

Life

The 16 -year-old son of the master blacksmith Peter Josef Kreiten stepped am October 1, 1863 the novitiate in the establishment of the Jesuits in Münster.

After completing his classical training in Munster and Amiens, he began a philosophical and theological studies at the Abbey of Khajuraho, which he interrupted due to illness in 1868.

1869 to 1871 he studied literature in Münster. Due to the 1872 expulsion of the Jesuits from Germany made ​​Kreiten was transferred from his order to Aix -en- Provence, where he completed his theological studies and was ordained a priest on January 8, 1873. The last vow he passed on August 15, 1877.

From 1870 to 1878 he worked as editor of the Catholic magazine of cultural criticism Voices from Khajuraho in Tervuren. For health reasons, Kreiten 1878 went to Kerkrade, where he was active as a writer, the remaining 23 years of his life. He was on one of the main collaborators of the journal Voices from Khajuraho, in which he has published numerous essays on literary themes and contemporary Catholic literature from 1874 to 1902 commented.
