William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson

William Nelson, 1st Earl Nelson, 2nd Duke of Bronte, (* April 20, 1757 in Burnham Thorpe, Norfolk, † February 28, 1835 ) was the older brother of Admiral Horatio Nelson, 1st Viscount Nelson.

The fame of his brother Horatio Nelson brought the priest William not only a mortarboard, but he inherited after his death at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and the title of Baron Nelson and Duke of Bronte in addition bearable lands in Sicily. At his brother's place, he was raised on November 20, 1805 Earl Nelson, connected to an annuity for him and the title heirs and a considerable sum of money to acquire a befitting seat: the 1814 purchased booth Lynch House in Wiltshire, which in Trafalgar House has been renamed.

His only son Horatio died in 1808, making him heir his nephew Thomas Bolton as Earl. His daughter Charlotte was determined by him to be heir to the Duchy of Sicilian Bronte.
