William Otto Brunner

William Otto Brunner (* July 7, 1878 in Wattwil, † December 1, 1958 ) was a Swiss astronomer.

He was from 1926 to 1945, the Director of the Swiss Federal Observatory in Zurich. In this capacity he continued the Zurich observations of sunspots, which had begun in 1864, the founder of the observatory, Rudolf Wolf. ( These observations were to the suspension of operations in 1980, there continued ).

The crater Brunner on the Moon was named in his honor.
