William S. Miller

William Starr Miller I. ( born August 22, 1793 in Wintonbury (now Bloomfield ), Conn.; † November 9, 1854 in New York City ) was an American politician. From 1845 to 1847 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

William Starr Miller I was born about ten years after the end of the Revolutionary War in Wintonbury. He enjoyed a good education. In 1845 he was a member of the board of aldermen of New York City. Politically, he was a member of the American Party. In the congressional elections of 1844 he was in the third electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Jonas P. Phoenix on March 4, 1845. He suffered in 1846 during his re-election bid a defeat and retired after March 3, 1847 the Congress of. He died on November 9, 1854 in New York City and was buried in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn. Two years after his death, his nephew William Starr Miller II was born, which was named after him.
