William Walker (cyclist)

William Walker (born 31 October 1985 in Subiaco, Australia) is an Australian racing cyclist.

Sports career

Walker drives the Rabobank Continental team since 2005. Previously, he won a stage of the Herald Sun Tour at the age of 18 years. In the 2005 season, he finished second overall in the UCI Oceania Tour behind Robert McLachlan. The road Cycling World Championships 2005 in Madrid Walker won the silver medal in the U23 race. At the start of the 2006 season, he won the race to the Australian road Radmeisterschaft, but received only the champion of the U23 class because he is still too young. After a fourth place finish at the Tour Down Under following he secured the first place in the overall standings of the UCI Oceania Tour 2006. From this summary it was later taken out, since he moved to the ProTour team Rabobank. Due to a heart Leidenes he had to end his career on April 30, 2009. In 2012, he launched a comeback, had his career in 2014 but quit again because of his heart problems.
