The Williamson River and its tributaries

The Williamson River is an approximately 120 km long river in southwestern Oregon. Together with its tributary Sprague River, it forms the main tributary of the Upper Klamath Lake.

The Williamson River rises on the northern slopes of Fuego Mountain in the central Klamath County. The source is located about 64 km northeast of the city of Klamath Falls. The river flows first in a northerly direction through the mountains and later by a rather flat landscape. Near the town of Chiloquin flow together Williamson River and Sprague River before they open at Modoc Point in the Upper Klamath Lake. The site is visible from U.S. Highway 97 from. The environmental organization The Nature Conservancy bought part of the marshy land where the river empties. The organization pointed out the Delta as a resting area for migratory birds.

In the agricultural valley to the north of Upper Klamath Lake is a grave irrigation system for irrigation was applied. These are fed with water from the Williamson River.
