Wim Jansen

Wim Jansen (actually: Wilhelmus Marinus Anthonius Jansen, born October 28, 1946 in Rotterdam ) is a former Dutch football player. Currently, Jansen has been the technical consultant at Feyenoord.

Jansen played between 1965 and 1980 at Feyenoord Rotterdam with which he could win three times the Dutch Meisterschafte and once the KNVB Cup. His greatest successes at club level were winning the European Cup of Champions 1969/70 and winning the UEFA Cup in 1973/74. During his time at Feyenoord, he brought it to 422 appearances in the Eredivisie. Then he went to the USA to the Washington Diplomats. After only 27 games, he left the club, however, to play for two years at Ajax Amsterdam. In 1982 he moved again for a year to the Washington Diplomats to leave it there end his career.

Between 1967 and 1980, the defensive midfielder played 65 international matches for the Dutch national football team. He was twice vice-champion, first in Germany in the World Cup 1974. In the final he was the one player whose controversial foul caused the penalty to 1:1 compensation by Paul Breitner in the penalty area to Bernd Hölzenbein. The second World Cup success was then the second place in the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina. He participated in all the games of the Netherlands at two world championships.
