Wim Statius Muller

Wim Statius Muller ( born January 26, 1930, Curaçao) is a Dutch composer.

On Curaçao, he started his music career with his teacher Jacobo Palm. From 1949 he studied at the Juilliard School in New York under Josef Raieff. After his master's degree in 1954, in 1955 he became professor of piano and music history at Ohio State University.

In 1960, Wim Statius Muller university career to start a career in government service, which eventually took him to stations in Curaçao and the Netherlands to the Secretary General of NATO in Brussels. Since his retirement in 1995, he moved back to his native Curacao.

The Antillean Dances (Op. 2,4,5 & 6) are unique compositions of Wim Statius Muller. In this short piano pieces you can feel the origin, the traditional dance music of the Dutch Caribbean islands. However, the music is no longer intended for dancing, but came through refinement and differentiation to concert music.
