Windmill Islands
The Windmill Islands are located in Ostantarktika along a portion of the coast of Wilke country in the Southern Ocean.
The island chain extends for about 25 km air line and consists of about 20 flat, partly ice-covered, mostly small rocky islands. One of the more larger islands include the Holl Island, Ford Island, the Herring Island and the Peterson Island.
They were 1947/48 mapped in the course of a research and training mission of the United States Navy. From the name of this mission (Operation Windmill ) the archipelago takes its name.
