Winter Island (Nunavut)
Winter Iceland is an uninhabited island in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, in the Qikiqtaaluk Region of the Canadian territory of Nunavut.
The 70 km ² island is located in the extreme west of Foxe Basin. It is separated from the Peninsula Melville by Hoppner Strait. Southwest is the Bay of Lyon Inlet.
1821/22 William Edward Parry wintered here with the ships HMS Hecla and HMS Fury.
