Wintertriathlon

Winter Triathlon is the winter form of the sport of triathlon. It is an endurance -around competition, in which the disciplines of cross-country running, mountain biking and cross country skiing are executed immediately one after the other. 2014 tested the ITU disciplines Snowshoe - skiing, speed skating and cross country skiing as a new winter triathlon disciplines. The premiere competition will start in March 2014 held in Quebec, Canada.

Organization

The whole course usually leads to snow. In contrast to the triathlon is run at the Winter Triathlon first. There are mountain bikes with tire widths of at least 40 mm are allowed. The final cross-country skiing takes place in free technique.

In the early days the disciplines were also performed in a different order. Winter triathlon is organized in the triathlon federations. The sport was rejected as an Olympic sport in November 2006 by the IOC.

From the International Triathlon Union ( ITU ) World Championships every year since 1997 in the Winter Triathlon performed (6 km run, 10 km mountain bike and 8 km cross-country skiing ).
