The Wirsol Solar AG is an international project company for the design, construction and financing of facilities based on renewable energies, especially solar power plants. The company is headquartered in Germany. For more company facilities are located in Spain, Italy, Belgium, the UK, Switzerland, Canada, the United States, Brazil, Japan, China, Malaysia and the Maldives.

Worldwide Wirsol is responsible for the installation of over 7,000 solar systems with a total output of more than 450 MWp.

For parts of the group a preliminary insolvency proceedings have been initiated in the fall of 2013.

Fields of activity

The Wirsol Solar AG covers from consulting, planning, trade, installation, maintenance up to the technical and commercial management, service, and financing all technical and commercial aspects of solar energy. This includes both solar energy systems for households and solar power plants for company / institutional investors.

In comparatively minor extent Wirsol devoted addition to the solar energy to other forms of renewable energy and hybrid systems and diesel substitution.

History

The company was founded on 1 February 2003 by Markus Wirth, Hans Wirth and Stefan Riel as " The Hausrenovierer GmbH" in Waghaeusel ( district of Karlsruhe ), which also houses the company's headquarters. After the company specialized increasingly in the field of photovoltaics, it was renamed in January 2004 in " Wirth Solar GmbH ". Due to the threat of litigation with Würth Solar GmbH met the leaders of 2007, the decision to change its name to " Wirsol Germany GmbH". This became a subsidiary of the newly formed holding company, " Wirsol Solar AG ". 2010 the Management Board of the Company has been increased from the company's founders. Bernd Kaestner has since CFO. Nikolaus Krane, formerly of Conergy the Board, is responsible for the areas Wirsol international financial products, projects and communication.

To promote the business relations with Asia has Wirsol with the Wirsol Solar Technology Beijing Ltd.. created a company based in China. In June 2012, Wirsol in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia opened a site for Southeast Asia.

Projects (selection)

Germany

In 2007 the company opened in the immediate vicinity of the premises Solar Test Bruhrain Park, who was at that time with a total of twelve acres of the largest solar park in Baden -Württemberg. With nearly 31,000 modules installed, the system achieves an output of up to 2,258 MWp.

In April 2010 Wirsol has installed on the Hockenheimring a photovoltaic system with a rated output of 848.88 kWp. Along the track a total of 4,716 solar panels were installed on 405 meters in length.

One of the biggest projects in the financial year 2011 closed Wirsol from the Brandenburg Mixdorf. On the 81 acre grounds of a former Russian tank farm, the company built a plant with 24.1 MWp power.

Also on a brownfield site in Brandenburg brought Wirsol 2012 the powerful almost 21 MWp solar park Luckau grid. The solar power plant was built on the former military airfield Alteno.

End of June 2013 presented Wirsol the construction of the biggest crystalline rooftop solar plant in Europe finished. The photovoltaic system on the eleven -acre distribution center of the company Pfenning Logistics in northern Baden Heddesheim has a peak power of 8.1 MWp.

Internationally

Worldwide Wirsol is active in a variety of projects. With the Renewable Energy Maldives ( REM) Wirsol the joint venture " Wirsol RE Maldives " was founded, which has already been installed on six islands of the Maldives solar power plants and there supplying power for schools and hospitals. Other important international projects Wirsol has completed, eg Spain ( Bovera, Barcelona, Cáceres ), England (Cornwall ), Italy ( Mola di Bari ), Belgium ( Wilrijk ) and Colorado (Fort Collins).

In September 2013 Wirsol announced the start of construction of a 22 MWp large solar parks on the Japanese island of Honshu and the launch of the Solar Park Monte Plata in the Dominican Republic. The project in the Caribbean, there is a total of 65 MWp one of the largest solar outdoor areas of Latin America.

Sponsoring

The Wirsol Solar AG has been the Bundesliga season 2011/2012 Official Sponsor of TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and namesake of the Wirsol Rhein- Neckar- Arena in Sinsheim, where the TSG discharging their home games.

Insolvency

On the initiative of Wirsol group a preliminary insolvency proceedings have been initiated in October 2013. The request was granted by the District Court in Karlsruhe on 24 October 2013, and appointed a provisional liquidator. As before, the Board aims to promote the remediation of an insolvency plan proceedings. Affected by this plan insolvency are the Wirsol Solar AG, which Wirsol Germany GmbH and Wirsol Solar System GmbH.

Due to financial difficulties the Wirsol Group intends to liquidate its founded in November 2012 business segment " wind energy ". Eight employees of the company were exempted with effect from 4 November 2013.

In December 2013 presented the Wirsol E- Mobility GmbH to file for bankruptcy due to impending insolvency. The District Court of Karlsruhe has granted the request and appointed a provisional liquidator. It affects three employees.
