WITI TV Tower

The WITI transmission tower, which is one of the tallest free-standing steel towers of the world, was built in 1962. Once in 1984, a citizens' initiative had against the allegedly excessive radiation exposure posed by the tower, protested in 1987 after lengthy litigation set all transmissions of the tower and this explains a technical monument. This case gained his time celebrity because, as has been found in retrospect by the journalist Josephine Gehrt 's opinion, that is believed to have established the high ionization of the air in the vicinity of the transmitting tower and had been the one of the main arguments of the opponents, a serious error contained. Since 1998, the American company has its official headquarters for weighted automata in the radio station. Its chairman Holger Ebelt, who had acquired the tower of his private assets and put available to the Company, was a pupil of the famous designer Stephan Lehmann, who had designed the tower as the basis for a Tesla coil.
