Władysław Orkan

Władysław Orkan, actually Franciszek Xawery Smaciarz ( born November 27, 1875 in Poręba Wielka powiat Limanowski, † May 14, 1930 in Kraków ) was a Polish writer of Young Poland period, although neither he himself nor his contemporaries him the have assigned modernity.

Life

Hurricane was the second of three children in the family of a woodcutter and his wife Smaciarz born Smreczak and was born as Franciszek Xawery Smaciarz. In 1898, he changed his family name in Smreczyński (following the maiden name of his mother ). He made the first literary attempts in high school in Krakow, because of the pro-Polish issue under the pseudonym hurricane. Because of poor school performance, he completed his high school and returned not from without school in his home village. His literary debut took place in 1898 with a collection of short stories to which the preface Kazimierz Przerwa - Tetmajer wrote. After 1900 he began the construction of a house, which later became the Biographical Museum hurricane (Muzeum Biograficzne Władysław Orkana ), also called Orkanówka was. Hurricane was life accompanied by financial worries and personal tragedies, such as the early death of his wife and the serious illness of his daughter.
