Wolbodo

Wolbodo (also Volbodo, Fulmodo, Vilpodo ) ( † April 21, 1021 ) was from 1018 to 1021 Bishop of Liege. He is venerated as a saint.

Life

He came from Flanders, and was educated at the cathedral school in Utrecht. After that he was there himself Scholaster. He was provost of St. Martin in Utrecht. Later he was a member of the court orchestra of Henry II. This transferred the bishopric of Liege on Wolbodo.

In his time the Church of St. James Monastery in Liege has been completed. He founded the monastery of St. Lawrence. He also sought to reform the monastery Lobbes.
