Wolf Huber

Wolf Huber (* 1485 in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg, † June 3, 1553 in Passau ) was an Austro- German painter, draftsman and architect of the Renaissance.

About his life little is known. Since about 1510 active in Passau, where he became court painter in 1540 and 1541 the Episcopal city builder. Whose real first name was Wolfgang.

Huber, who is next to Albrecht Altdorfer as the greatest master of the Danube School, is now valued for its light-handed, as written landscape drawings. He developed the " inspired " landscape of heartfelt, delicate depiction of nature up to demonic visions. In Huber's painting the landscape wins against the scenic priority.
