Wolf Rilla

Wolf Rilla ( born March 16, 1920 as Wolfgang Peter Rilla in Berlin- Charlottenburg, † October 19, 2005 in Grasse, France) was a British film director and screenwriter German origin.

Life and work

Rilla was the son of actor Walter Rilla and his Jewish Mother Theresa Klausner. 1934 the family emigrated to Britain to escape the rise of Nazism. On 5 October 1942, he was expatriated by the Nazis.

After his schooling Rilla worked at the BBC, where he worked on propaganda broadcasts of the German service. In the early 1950s he worked as a screenwriter and film director for British cinema. In contrast to his father Rilla no longer returned to Germany because he no longer saw himself as a German and moved after he had sat down to rest, to France, where he was managing director of a hotel.
