Wölferbütt is a district of the city Vacha in the southwestern district of Wartburg in Thuringia.

Geography

The urban area covers an area of 4.60 km ². Wölferbütt is about 400 meters high at the foot of the mountain in Dietrich Auersberger Kuppenrhön, about 45 kilometers southwest of Eisenach. The hamlet Wölferbütt still belong the localities Mariengart and Masbach. June 30, 2009 14 inhabitants lived in the district Masbach.

History

Wölferbütt was the first time the Great on the Hersfeld Abbey Steinfeld as documented in a deed by Karl on August 31, 786. This name kept the village until about the Thirty Years War.

In 1908, a farmer found in Wölferbütter Feldflur Celtic jewelry and tools, evidence of very early settlement. On Dietrichsberg we also find walls of basalt stones and terraced fields. The first time was mentioned as Mariengart Schalkeslohe. 1339 there was established a Servite, which was laid in 1368 by Vacha. The monastery buildings were destroyed in 1525 during the Peasants' War.

Today in Mariengart still stand the ruins of a grave chapel in 1676 and remains a barn of the monastery. The chapel was built for Cunegonde of Boineburg and Friedrich von Buttlar. It burned down in 1704 during repair work.

Masbach was formerly a gallant yard.

As at 31 December 2013, the site was incorporated into the city Vacha.
