Wolfgang Baumgart

Wolfgang Baumgart (born 23 October 1949 in Inheiden; † 21 February 2011) was a German hockey player, the 1972 Olympic champion.

Wolfgang Baumgart had no use in the German national team, when he was appointed as the youngest player in the squad for the 1968 Olympics. In Mexico, the half right striker was involved in three games, the German team ended at the end of the fourth. Four years later at the 1972 Olympics in Munich Baumgart was present in eight of nine games, including in the finals of the first Olympic victory in the German Hockey selection. Overall, Wolfgang Baumgart worked from 1968 to 1973 in 65 countries playing with, including 10 in the hall.

Baumgart played at SC 1880 Frankfurt, where he was in 1968, 1969 and 1970 German Masters. From 1971 to 1975, the Frankfurt won five consecutive European Cup of Champions. It was out with Horst Baumgart Dröse another Olympic champion in 1972 in all five winning teams.
