Wolfgang David

Wolfgang David (* Wolfgang David Sengstschmid in St. Pölten, Austria ) is an Austrian violinist.

Biography

Admitted to the age of eight at the Vienna Music University, Wolfgang David studied for many years the leader of the Vienna Philharmonic, Rainer Küchl. During this time he won prizes and awards at prestigious international competitions (International Violin Competition Cologne, Int. Violin Competition Joseph Joachim, Int. Violin Competition Pretoria). Later he continued his studies with Igor Ozim at the Musikhochschule in Cologne and at Yfrah Neaman at the Guildhall School of Music in London.

David was a soloist with leading orchestras such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Johannesburg Philharmonic, Bern Symphony Orchestra or the New York Virtuosi and has performed in over 30 countries in prominent places such as the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Carnegie Hall New York, the Cerritos Center Los Angeles, London's Wigmore Hall, the Victoria Hall in Geneva and the Cologne Philharmonie.

Wolfgang David will win more and more reputation with the public and press in Europe, South Korea, South Africa and the U.S., where the Washington Post wrote: ". He released an album with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Emmanuel Siffert and three CDs with the American pianist David Gompper. In April 2011, another CD was released by NAXOS jointly with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Wolfgang David performs on a violin by Carlo Bergonzi, Cremona 1715, which is loaned to him by the Austrian National Bank.
