Wolfgang Pfeifer

Wolfgang Pfeifer ( born July 3, 1935) was football players in the GDR and two-time East German football national team.

When Wolfgang Pfeifer came from the SG Mickten 1954 his first league games completed at SC Einheit Dresden, serious changes paved at the Dresden football. Since 1950, Dresden had two teams, the level of DDR - Oberliga considerable influence Dynamo and rotation ( precursor of the SC unit ). By resolution of the Sports Association Dynamo to move their team Dresden to Berlin, took the SC unit in November 1954 as the only team the traditional football stronghold Dresden in the highest GDR football class.

The 19 -year-old Piper succeeds the retired regulars Werner Clemens and Rolf Dietz, who had previously been the playmaker of the team. Pfeifer was quickly starting eleven and in 1957 was used in the junior national team for the first time internationally. In 1958, he won by winning the East German Cup football his only title. In the final on 14 December 1958, he set with his 1-1 equalizer, a 2-1 win SC Einheit Dresden via the SC Lok Leipzig.

Just one month earlier Pfeifer had on November 2, 1958 his first senior international in the encounter DDR - disputed Norway ( 4:1). Also in the next international match of the German Democratic Republic Pfeifer was reinstated in the Away encounter on February 11, 1959 against Indonesia (2-2 ), he played on the left midfield position while he was summoned in his first race as a stopper ( central defense ). Other A- internationals Pfeifer was no longer used because its positions were with Werner Heine and Waldemar MUEHLBAECHER in firm hands, for example. Other international operations, it only came in the junior ( 5) and the B- team ( 7).

One year after the cup victory sat at SC Einheit Dresden one a downtrend. After two twelfth places in 1959 and 1960, the team's 1961/62 ended at the end of the season in 13th place, which meant relegation to the DDR -Liga. There Pfeifer played one more season and then moved to 187 league games ( including transitional round ) for the SC unit at the beginning of the season 1963/64, to local rivals Dynamo Dresden. This played a short premier league stint 1962/63 also in the DDR -Liga. With Piper's help, however, succeeded in the immediate resurgence. Thus, the Dynamos had the SC unit, whose football team was demoted in 1966 for locomotive FSV Dresden, replaced in the long term as the leading force in the Dresden football. Piper, however, failed to reemphasize from the mediocrity, but had a regular place at Dynamo safe. When at the age of 35 he ended his league career with the end of the season 1969/70, he had completed 100 league games for Dynamo Dresden. With a total of 277 league games Wolfgang Pfeifer is by appearances at number 53 soccer players of all employed in the top division of the German Democratic Republic.
