Wolrad II, Count of Waldeck

Wolrad II of Waldeck (also: solid wheel; born March 27, 1509 Eilhausen, † April 15, 1575 in Eilhausen ) was the second son of Philip III. of Waldeck -Eisenberg (December 9, 1486 - June 20, 1539 ) and Adalheid of Hoya ( 1472 - April 11, 1539 ).

He was from 1539 to 1575 the reigning Count of Waldeck -Eisenberg and was the progenitor of the middle line of the House of Waldeck- Eisenberg. Wolrad II was also known with the nickname " the scholar ". In 1546 he participated as one of the three Protestant auditors participate in the Regensburg Colloquy. From 1547 until his death in 1578 he resided in the water lock to Eilhausen.

Progeny

On June 6, 1546 he married Anastasia Günthera of Schwarzburg- Blankenburg ( born March 31, 1528 but † April 1, 1570 ), daughter of Heinrich XXXII. of Schwarzburg- Blankenburg (1498-1538) and Catherine of Henneberg ( 1508-1567 ). The couple had the following children:
