Woltersteich
The Wolter pond is a pond east of the village / hamlet Woltersmühlen the municipality in the district of East Holstein Süsel in Schleswig -Holstein.
The pond is located in the Holstein Switzerland, surrounded by a hilly moraine landscape is approximately 36 hectares in size, has a triangular shape with a width and length of about 600 m and drains westward in the 200 meters flowing Schwartau.
He was used as a mill (the " Wolter mill " ) and a fish pond ( from about 1900 through the Fischereigut Wolter Pond) - today it is used for bathing and as fishing lake.
The Wolter pond is surrounded by swamp forests and reed zones and adjacent to the northerly Süseler Moor ( a fen ) and has an Eagle nesting on.
It was created by construction of a dam on a narrow bottleneck and dammed the water of Hundebek.
The first mention of the Wolter pond in 1488 than this - along with other lakes and villages - was sold to the monastery Ahrensbok.
