Wooling

Wooling is a multilingual German youth magazine, which is produced and published in the Saxon Seifhennersdorf of students in the Upper Country High School. After the book was awarded by the news magazine Der Spiegel in 2001 as the best German -language student newspaper, the newspaper gained a nationwide reputation. In 2007, the editors of Wooling temporarily their activities in the print media in order to devote himself intensively to the promotion of young talent and then parallel published online edition of the same name. Wooling is not just a youth magazine, but also the initiator of aid projects. Between 2005 and 2008 Wooling editors worked there as volunteers. With fundraising earthquake victims in Java / Indonesia, children in Ghana or the floods in Poland families were supported. History

The Oberland -Gymnasium fought in 2000 with the threat of school closure. To make publicity on the excellent potential in terms of talent promotion at this institution attentive, a new concept for the existing school newspaper has been developed and it was renamed Wooling. The former editorial was under enormous pressure to succeed, because they wanted to save their school. Through much dedication of the students, supported by the teacher Andrea Thomas, they could make the impossible possible, by 2001 overall winner was the world's advertised school newspaper competition in the news magazine Der Spiegel. The school had thus become known throughout Germany by Wooling. This popularity and other activities significantly contributed to prevent the school closure.

In April 2005, the online magazine of the same name ( WOOLING.net ) was founded, which was initially intended as a supplement to the print edition, but evolved into a stand-alone interactive project. At times, there was also a Turkish edition of the online magazine, which was produced in the Turkish Ünye, but was discontinued due to low demand for about a year. On 13 October 2008, the online magazine was discontinued.

2011 was introduced as a special publication of Wooling the "cat sheet". In this journal, school-related issues as well as the current regional events are processed before all things. The paper was very well received, which is why the editors decided to expand this and produce twice a year in addition to the magazine.

In contrast, the Wooling magazine treats socially relevant themes of culture and politics, but also offers a variety of critical, satirical or loose texts, as columns or glosses. People and their stories are increasingly being taken up and processed in journalism. " Look out far outside the box" is the motto of Seifhennersdorfer editors.

2012 started Wooling a project in cooperation with the Saxon newspaper. The editorial staff at the youth magazine was allowed to design the local edition of the SZ and fill with your own texts.

Target group

Wooling targeted with a wide range of topics superficially mainly at young people aged 14 to 19 years. But many adults keep the magazine many years of loyalty.

Financing

As a non-profit project to Wooling funded through the advertisement placed in the magazine advertisements. By advertisers and alone by selling the magazine can not finance, however. The editor in chief has to continually find major problems, advertisers in the border region to Seifhennersdorf. Without the prizes and sponsors the existence of Wooling would be endangered.
