Workers' Party (Tunisia)

The Tunisian Workers' Party (French Parti des travailleurs tunisiens, PTT, Arabic حزب العمال التونسي ) is a communist party in Tunisia. It is led by Hamma Hammami.

1986 as the Communist Workers Party of Tunisia (French Parti Communiste the ouvriers de Tunisie, PCOT, حزب Arab العمال الشيوعي التونسي ) founded, it was banned during the rule of President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali. According to the " Jasmine Revolution " in 2011 she was admitted and was in 2012, the current name. In October 2012, she joined with other left parties together with the Alliance popular front.

Organization

The party was founded on January 3, 1986 as the Parti Communiste the ouvriers de Tunisie ( PCOT ). Under the authoritarian regime of President Zine el- Abidine Ben Ali was banned and operating underground.

It was based on the historical models of the Soviet Union under Stalin, and the run of Enver Hoxha, the Albanian state. She called for the revolutionary overthrow of the imperialist system on an international scale for the establishment of a socialist order of society as a transitional stage to communism.

The youth organization of the party, the Union of Communist Youth of Tunisia ( UJCT, fr. Union de la jeunesse Communiste de Tunisie ). The newspaper of the party called Al Badil and the party spokesman is Hamma Hammami.

On 10 July 2012, the organization changed its name to Parti des travailleurs tunisiens ( PTT).

Demands and struggles

The PTT is fighting for demands of the labor movement as fixed settings, wage increases as well as the right to organize and support workers' strikes.

The party played a key role in the bloody suppression of popular uprising of Gafsa against the Ben Ali regime in his own words 2008.

The PCOT was founded in 2005, the " coalition of the 18th October," to, in which also the Democratic Progressive Party, which had organized Ettakatol and certain Islamic groups.

Participation in the Tunisian revolution

The " coalition of the 18th October," fell apart in the course of the revolution in Tunisia 2010/2011. On 20 January 2011, the then- PCOT founded together with his left hand work league, the Nasserist trade union movement, Al - Watad, National Democratic Movement, the Baasistischen movement and the Patriotic and Democratic Labour Party ( PTPD ) "Front of January 14 ," named after the day of the escape of former President Ben Ali.

The PTT calls nationalization of industry and the creation of a people's government as part of the democratic revolution.

International participation

The party is a member of the International Conference of Marxist - Leninist Parties and Organizations ( Unity and struggle ).
