World Animal Day

The World Animal Day is an international day of action for animal welfare, which is celebrated on October 4.

History

The World Animal Day goes back to a requirement of the writer Heinrich Zimmermann in 1924. The first event was then on October 4, 1925 at the Berlin Sports Palace.

From 12 to May 17, 1929, Vienna was the third time the venue of the World Organisation for Animal Protection Congress, which was attended by representatives of 152 animal welfare organizations from 32 countries.
