Aired were WEC events, among others, on the American sports channel Versus, in Canada on The Sports Network and The Score, and in Australia by Setanta Sports. In January 2011, the WEC was absorbed into the UFC and assumed the title holder in the spring and bantamweight.

The WEC champions include current UFC champions featherweight Jose Aldo and bantamweight Dominick Cruz. Other honorees included Ron Waterman, Frank Shamrock, Chris Leben, Anthony Pettis, Carlos Condit, Karo Parisyan, Urijah Faber and Brian Stann.
