Dominick Cruz

Dominick Cruz ( born September 3, 1985 in San Diego ) is an American mixed martial arts fighter. He was the last bantamweight title- holder of World Extreme Cage Fighting, and is the first of the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Since 16 December 2010, he has a fight record of 17 wins and one defeat.

Cruz was born in San Diego and grew up in Tucson. He started in seventh grade with rings and in high school with boxes. He made his victorious MMA debut on January 29, 2005 at an event of Rage in the Cage, an operator with which he still remained for the next five fights. Then he stepped up to three times at Total Combat before he played a title fight in the WEC on 24 March 2007 as a featherweight with a flawless balance. There he succumbed in the first round a guillotine choke from Urijah Faber. After another fight at Total Combat, he joined in June 2008 in the bantamweight class of the WEC against Charlie Valencia and won on points. This was followed by victories over Ian McCall, Ivan Lopez, Joseph Benavidez, and finally a title shot against the undefeated Brian Bowles to date has been on the March 6, 2010 applied. This broke his hand in the first round and was in the break before the third round. Cruz first title defense was against Benavidez in August with a brief point decision. On December 16 at WEC 53, he played against Scott Jorgensen his last fight before the WEC was absorbed into the UFC. This he entered in addition to the title of the first UFC Bantamweight Champion. Dominick Cruz defeated Jorgensen after five rounds by a point decision.
