Worldwatch Institute

The Worldwatch Institute (WI) was founded in 1974 by Lester R. Brown. The Institute in the U.S. capital Washington is an independent interdisciplinary research organization focusing on issues of sustainability and environmentally and socially acceptable technologies.

Well known are the annual publications of the WI, State of the World ... (State of the world ... ). Some of the Institute's publications can be downloaded ( after registration) as a free PDF document.

A current project is among other things by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation -funded " Nourishing the Planet", a comparative analysis of innovations that will help to alleviate poverty and hunger.
