Lester R. Brown

Lester ( " Les " ) Russell Brown ( b. 1934 ) is an environmental analyst and writer.

He is the founder and director of the Earth Policy Institute (founded in 2001), a non-profit environmental research institute based in Washington, DC, where he also lives. Previously, he was for 26 years director of the Worldwatch Institute, also in Washington DC

Brown has published numerous books on environmental topics that have been translated into more than 40 languages. His most recent book is titled Plan B 2.0: Rescuing a Planet Under Stress appeared and a Civilization in Trouble in 2006.

Brown was described by the Washington Post as "one of the most influential thinkers of the world ." The American Who's who he operates under the 50 " Great Americans ".

Lester R. Brown is an Honorary Professor of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

In 1986 he became MacArthur Fellow.

Lester Brown is also one of 350 ambassadors of the climate protection organization 350.org.
