Wortmann

The Wortmann AG is a German computer manufacturer based in Schnathorst, a district of Hüllhorst in North Rhine-Westphalia. The company provides business PCs and server. In addition, it sells computer monitors, PCs, servers, notebooks, tablet PCs and UTM systems from Secure Point through specialist retailers. The products are made ​​under the brand name Terra. Data center

The Wortmann AG is currently building on an area of ​​2,500 square meters, a data center in order to get into the cloud computing business. The 15 million euro project is called " Terra Channel Cloud" and is built directly at the headquarters. Place provides the data center for 550 units with 26,000 servers.

History

The company was founded in 1986 by Siegbert Wortmann as " Wortmann Terra Impex computer and data processing GmbH". In 1996, the company achieved sales of 100 million euros for the first time. In 1998, the GmbH was converted into a public limited company. The joint stock company is an unlisted company and, in part, the majority involved in about twenty other companies. In the meantime, go, by its own account of the company, about 15 % of its products are exported.

Wortmann is now the largest independent computer manufacturer in Europe after the Maxdata AG filed for insolvency in 2008, Siemens got out of the joint venture Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Medion was purchased in mid-2011 by the Chinese competitor Lenovo.

Early 2012 announced Wortmann plans to build a new production plant near Leipzig. In 2009, new facilities were inaugurated at the main site in Hüllhorst of the former German Economics Minister Karl Theodor zu Guttenberg.

In the company of up to 64 trainees are trained in six occupations, which corresponds to a training rate of 20%.

In March 2013 it was announced that Wortmann will take over the insolvent b.com Computer AG; b.com passed into the b.com GmbH, which was acquired by Wortmann AG as a new investor. The b.com GmbH will remain an independent company with the majority of the 115 jobs as well as sales offices.
