Wujiangdu Dam

The Wujiangdu Dam is a large dam in Guizhou Province, People's Republic of China. It is located north of Guiyang on Wu Jiang, a tributary of the Yangtze.

Dam

The dam, an arch-gravity dam was built in a karst area. It was completed in 1981 or 1983 - there are also a number of statements. It is 165 meters high.

Reservoir

Since 1979, the reservoir is impounded. In the literature it is reported that earthquakes were induced by the impoundment of the reservoir.

Hydroelectric power station

The connected hydropower plant has five Francis turbines, three of which 210 MW ( according to other sources 3 * 214 ) and two newer, retrofitted with 250 MW capacity, together 1130 MW. It is operated by the China Huadian Group.

Dam accident

On 1 May 1989, there were at this dam an accident with 28 dead.
