Wulsbüttel ( Low German Wolsbuddel ) is a town in the municipality of Hagen in the Bremen district of Cuxhaven, in Lower Saxony.

History

Name

The present name evolved from Waldesbutli about Wulfesbüttel, Wulf beadle and Wulsebüttel to Wulsbüttel. The name that is derived from forest and settlement Historically the constable - towns. Constable comes from the Indo-European bhu ( build, be ), then it was, inter alia,, the suffix - butli and büttel. Constable villages are so settled areas of the house and yard.

History

The passage tombs Lehnstedt 82 and 83 are in the forest south of DuEngel Lehnstedt. They come in some of the final phase of the Funnel Beaker culture is present ( about 2865 BC).

The Germanic Chauken populated before the birth of Christ, the area on both sides of the river Weser. Saxon tribes conquered probably from 300/400 AD wide parts of Lower Germany and the people of the Chauken went up in the trunk of Saxony.

In the 11th century the area came to the diocese of Bremen in Bremen's territory.

The present Protestant Romanesque church of St Lucia was built around 1200. Wulsbüttel The old water mill was built around 1300, the Löffler Lower House in 1673.

After 1648 the Archdiocese of Bremen was in the Swedish kingdom ruled territory Duchy of Bremen was 1719/1720 to the Electorate of Brunswick-Lüneburg (1815 Kingdom of Hanover ) and was sold from 1866 to Prussia, and in 1946 at Lower Saxony.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a silver lily on a green background on a golden oak branch with an acorn and two leaves. The lily stands for the monastery Lilienthal that the Bailiwick had from the 13th century on the place. The oak leaves reminiscent of the forest resources of the place.

Structures
