The station building

The dating of the start of construction difficulties; the heritage authority lays down on a work year of 1898 fixed, but the building is already visible in a photo from 1892, which for an earlier start of construction - according to sources 1886 - speaks. His reception building on the Siegfried line is connected by the straight road connecting the Valkyrie Avenue as a visual axis with the Zooempfangsgebäude at the Hubertus Ave.

The single-storey timber-frame building is covered with flat, hipped roofs above. Striking feature is the pre-built two-storey entrance tower. This is equipped with a steep and high roof. Current usage

After the establishment of the S- Bahn line S 8 S-Bahn Rhein- Ruhr May 1988, the breakpoint has no remote platform and it is used only as an S- Bahn station. In addition to the S 8 from Mönchengladbach Hbf to Hagen Hbf (with extension to Dortmund Hbf) holds here since December 2003, the S 9 to Bottrop (with extension to Haltern am See). The remains of the former access to the remote platform can be seen to this day in the still above the middle two tracks leading across the northern part of the pedestrian bridge. The platform itself is completely eliminated, however, the long-distance railway lines are still in the same position, so that in the region of the breakpoint of the track distance is much larger than usual. The station building is now used as a restaurant.
