Wycliffe's Bible

Wyclif 's Bible (English Wychlif Bible) is the name for Bible texts that have been translated from the pre- reformers John Wycliffe and his students and followers in the years 1380-1388 in Middle English.

Translation

John Wyclif collected various English Bible translations, and revised them. In this work of translation he used as a translation basis, the Latin Bible, the Vulgate. Thus, the resulting translation in this way was not the first translation into English, but is a compilation and revision of previous translations dar.

Copies of the translation of the Bible were made by hand, since the printing press was not yet available, yet his translation used by his followers, the Lollards were called over the country. Nowadays still exist about 150 handwritten copies of the Bible translation, which is also called Lollard Bible.
