Wynn Bullock

Wynn Bullock ( born April 18, 1902 in Chicago, Illinois, † November 16, 1975 in Monterey ) was an American photographer who is best known for his nudes and landscapes.

Biography

Wynn Bullock was originally a musician and singer and remained during his studies from 1928 to 1930 in Paris, Milan and Berlin. In 1930 he returned to the U.S. and began in Los Angeles training as a photographer at the Art Center School. His teacher from 1938 to 1940 was Edward Kaminski. By 1959, Bullock worked as a commercial photographer, and then began as a lecturer, including at the San Francisco State College. In 1948 he met Edward Weston know who brought him the straight fotography closer.

Work

The best-known images Bullocks are nudes and landscapes that embody a very poetic visual language. His paintings can be found in more than 90 museums, including The Hallmark Collection of Photography, in the Museum of Modern Art, the Center for Creative Photography and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
