Xavier Barachet ( born November 19, 1988 in Nice ) is a French handball player.

Association

The 1.95 meter tall and 97 kilogram right back player was from Chambery Savoie HB 2006 under contract. Previously, he played with Cavigal Nice sport. With Chambéry he played in the EHF Cup (2007/2008) and in the EHF Champions League (2006/2007, 2008/2009, 2009/2010). In summer 2012, he signed a contract with the Spanish side Atlético Madrid, with whom he won the cup. After Atlético Madrid had to withdraw his team in the summer of 2013 due to financial difficulties, Barachet signed a four -year contract with Paris Saint- Germain HB. For the 2013/14 season, he is on loan to Saint- Raphaël Var Handball.

National

Xavier Barachet is in the squad of the French national team, so for the European Handball Championship 2010, where he won the gold medal. At the World Championship 2011 in Sweden, he became world champion. In early 2012, he landed with France at the European Championship only to a disappointing 11th place. In summer 2012, he participated in the Olympics in London and won with France once again the gold medal. At the World Championships in Spain in 2013, he finished 6th place.

He made his debut in the senior national team on January 10, 2009 in an international match against the Algerian selection and achieved so far in 63 international matches 125 goals.
