Xenokleides

Xenokleides was an ancient poet of the 4th century BC Athens, from which no works have survived. He was one of the lovers of the courtesan Neaera.

When he 369 BC the request of Kallistratos contradicted, to support Sparta against Thebes, he was unjustly accused of having not participated in the campaign, although he was released as a tenant of the Corn Laws thereof. Nevertheless, he was condemned and declared dishonorable ( atimos ). He then went to Macedonia into exile, but he had to leave at the direction of Philip II. 342 BC he returned to Athens. During the trial of Neaira his infamy still existed.
