The company also offers download acceleration services that have been downloaded and installed by more than 80 million users. Xunleis website has over 50 million visitors every day.

In January 2007, Google acquired a share of 4 % of the company for 5 million dollars.

Criticism

Xunlei uses P2P techniques for speeding up downloads. By default it scans all files on the computer and offers them for download via the Xunlei network.

The default search page of the program sends its users to websites that contain viruses and Trojans. Also Xunlei itself installs files that are believed by many virus scanners as a threat.

Xunlei is with advertising and pop-ups cross-financed ( Adware ). The advertising can be turned off.

When you uninstall not all files are removed. In particular, the add- ons in browsers are not deleted.
