Xylosynth

Xylosynth is a digital percussion instrument, invented by the Englishman Will Wernick in 1986 The name is from the Greek word Xylos -. For the xylophone - and the word synthetic - for the synthesizer - together. The Xylosynth is visually related to the xylophone. The instrument is mainly used in jazz, where it serves as a substitute for vibraphone, marimba and glockenspiel, or in contemporary music, where it is used as an extraordinary effect instrument. The Xylosynth has factory-installed sounds, but is operated in practice, mainly with external samplers.
