The Yakima Research Station northeast of Yakima, Washington, is a location of the NSA, from which the Intelsat communication is intercepted over the Pacific Ocean as part of the ECHELON program. Through the military used ground leads of the historic John Wayne Pioneer Trail.

The station is to be relocated in the next few years in the much larger Aerospace Data Facility at Buckley Air Force Base in Aurora, Colorado.
