Yaroslavsky, Primorsky Krai

Yaroslavsky (Russian Ярославский ) is an urban-type settlement in Primorsky Krai (Russia) with 9104 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).

Geography

The village lies on the southern edge of the Chankaniederung, nearly 120 km as the crow flies north of the regional capital Vladivostok and 40 km from the southern shore of Chankasees.

Yaroslavsky belongs to Rajon Khorol and is located 30 km south-east of the administrative center Khorol.

History

The settlement was founded in 1951 under the name Jaroslawka than in the south of the town up to about 200 m in height rising hills ( Kuznetsova Sopka ) was initiated with the development of tin deposits ( after 1964 conversion to mainly fluorspar and building materials).

1957 was the place under the present name form the status of an urban-type settlement.

Economy and infrastructure

Townscape end company is the Jaroslawsker mining and enrichment combine ( Yaroslavsky GOK), which promotes south of the village fluorspar and limestone and Gabbroschotter in an up to 230 m deep open pit. The company is a leading manufacturer of fluoride flux concentrate in Russia. Inventories of the deposit can cover the total needs of the country at the current level for another 50 years. Since 1999, zinc concentrate produced; also containing ore deposit, the tantalum, niobium, beryllium, lithium, rubidium and cesium.

Yaroslavsky is the terminus of a railway line, the distance from the station Lutschki the Sibirzewo (on the Trans-Siberian Railway ) Turi Rog branches ( station name Jaroslawka - Primorskaya; freight only ). Through the village leads the regional road A183 to the south Sibirzewo from 18 kilometers east past leading highway Khabarovsk- Vladivostok M60 branches off and leads to Komissarowo, a village in the sparsely populated mountain landscape on the border with the People's Republic of China.
