Yasemin Åžamdereli

Yasemin Samdereli (* 1973 in Dortmund ) is a German film director and writer with Kurdish roots.

Life

Yasemin Samdereli graduated from the University of Television and Film Munich. From 1993, she worked as an assistant director, screenwriter and director, and was from 1994 to 1998 the Bavaria Film freelancer for media education project The film Classroom. A first cinematic success was the inclusion of an early short film by the filmmaker in the compilation of short films Crisscross (1996 ), on which also the cinematographer Michael Ballhaus participated. First international experience gained Samdereli then in 1997 as a production assistant on Jackie Chan ( Who am I? ). As of 1999, the film director, also for different media AGs worked as a freelance editor. This year, her acclaimed short film Kismet came out, which was shown at prestigious film festivals, including the Filmfestival Max Ophüls Preis.

2002 turned Samdereli from a screenplay which she has co-authored with her sister Nesrin Samdereli itself, the multi-cultural romantic comedy getürkt for ProSieben Everything! with Bürger Lars Dietrich, Türkiz Talay and Hilmi Sözer in the lead roles. The end of 2009 turned Yasemin Samdereli their first full-length feature film Almanya - Welcome to Germany for which they again together with her sister Nesrin Samdereli wrote the screenplay. A rare appearance as a performer in front of the camera had Samdereli in Delicious ( 2004), a short film of her sister Nesrin.

Since March 2013 Samdereli is a shareholder of the S2R Filmproduktion GmbH, which she founded with her sister Nesrin Samdereli and producer Anja- Karina Richter.

Şamderelis parents from Alevi- Kurdish- zazaischen families from the provinces of Tunceli and Erzincan in Turkey.
