Yelang

Yelang (Chinese夜郎, Pinyin Yelang ) is the name of an ancient people and ancient empire. In the time of the Warring States period to the Han Dynasty, it was mainly in western and northern Guizhou and northeastern Yunnan, southern Sichuan and northern Guangxi. It operated mainly agriculture and entertained at the beginning of the Han dynasty trade relations with the countries of Nan Yue, Ba and Shu. Under Han Emperor Wu was incorporated 111 BC in the prefecture Zangke (牂 柯 郡).

In China, the Empire until today because of a proverb ( chengyu ) is known :夜郎自大, Yelang zì dà (literally: " Yelang considers himself to be great"), meaning " have a limited horizon and yet be conceited, ignorant, but arrogant, arrogant and inflated ".

An important recent archaeological discovery is the Kele - site ( Kele Yizhi可乐 遗址) from the time of the Warring States Period to Western Han Dynasty - Tombs of the Kingdom of Yelang - in the community Kele the circle Hezhang the governmental district of Bijie in the Chinese province of Guizhou. The Kele - site since 2001 has been on the list of monuments of the People's Republic of China ( 5-108 ).
