Yeniseysk Governorate

The government Yenisejsk (Russian Енисейская губерния / Jenissejskaja Gubernija ) was an administrative unit of the Russian Empire in the mid- Siberia and was subordinate to the Governor-General in Irkutsk. In the south, it bordered on the Chinese Empire (Mongolia) and in the north to the Arctic Ocean. It was within Russia of the following provinces and territories limited ( from east clockwise): Yakutsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Tobolsk.

It was on the Yenisei and included as well as its whole course to the mouth. By today's terms, it corresponds roughly to the Krasnoyarsk Krai and the Republic of Khakassia. It had an area of ​​2,556,756 km ², of which 14,450 km ² water surface.

It was created in 1822 as part of the administrative reorganization of Siberia and existed until 1925.

Capital was Krasnoyarsk.

Statistics

In 1897, the province had 570 161 inhabitants.

Of these, 473 220 inhabitants were Russians, Tatars and 43,739 Khakassians and 21.421 Little Russians ( Ukrainians ). At smaller members of indigenous peoples, there were 3,272 Samoyed, Tungus 2948 2181 Yakuts and 993 Yenisey Ostyaks. A high percentage of the population accounted for deportees to 1900, there were about 10%.

Agriculture and horticulture were operated mainly in a circle Minusinsk in the south. Were built rye, barley, oats, wheat and potatoes.
